~ Indian boxer Mary Kom defeated Hyang Mi Kim of North Korea 5-0 in a unanimous verdict to clinch gold in the women's 48kg category at the Asian boxing championship on Wednesday.
~ It was her fifth gold in this event.
~ She is from Manipur.
~ She is a five-time World Amateur Boxing champion, and only woman boxer to have won a madal in each one the six world championships.
~ She has also won Bronze Medal in 2012 London Olympic Games.
~ She became the first Indian Woman boxer to get a Gold Medal in the Asian Games in 2014 in Incheon, South Korea.
~ In 2016, she was nominated by the President of India as a member of the Rajya Sabha.
